My husband, Tom, and I live just north of Chicago with our two boys and our 100lb chocolate lab, Max.
I am the Founder and President of Sleep Training Solutions and a Certified Infant and Child Sleep Consultant. So satisifying to solve these sleep issues for families who have been struggling for months–or years!–and are finally getting a good night’s sleep.
I have a Master’s of Arts in Teaching and was a private math tutor for the 7 years (truth be told, I still have some clients I’ve been working with since the beginning…hard to cut the strings!). I LOVE math. I used to leave my math homework to do last, as my reward for getting through the other subjects. I’m sorry if you can’t relate. You’re not alone!
I am also a Certified Rainbow Facilitator (helping children cope with the loss of a parent or caregiver from death, divorce, or deployment) and I am active with the moms group at our church.
There’s nothing better than having a few minutes (or hours) to cozy up on the couch with that book you’ve been waiting to read. (By the way, I’m always looking for great book suggestions!). I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten lost in a book, and found my way out hours later having missed more than one meal.
When the kitchen counters are messy and start to collect STUFF, I start to twitch. I refuse to go to sleep knowing I’ll wake up to a mess.
I wish I had more time to finish the needlepoint stocking I started formy youngest when I was pregnant. Maybe it’ll be finished in time for him to take it to college. [Update, 6 years 2 months later, it's finished. Thank goodness he has no younger siblings!]
When we’re in the car, the kids and I listen to KLOVE and sing along. One of them can sing on key, the other gets an A for effort.
I believe that all of the illnesses, surgeries and scares we’ve been through have made us stronger. I don’t know why they’ve happened, but I firmly believe the verse in Romans 8:28 “All things work together for good for those who love God…” He has a plan. Have you read this story about a Grandma baking a cake?
A young boy was visiting his Grandma and was telling her how everything was
going wrong in school; his brothers and sisters teased him, his mother and
father didn’t love him, and how he had a stomach ache the night before.
“Yuck,” said the little boy.
“Gross, Grandma!”
Sometimes I feel like we’re stuck in the dry ingredient step, covered in flour. But then I get a whiff of the cake baking…
Without these health setbacks, I would never have steered my life in a more healthy direction (or started this blog!). And for that, I’m very grateful.
I am so very proud of you, my friend. You are the best!
Thanks old friend
